My favorite thing about this resort was the beach. They had the best beach versus a different different place I had stayed at in Moorea. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a beach bungalow and it was so nice to walk out your door onto the beach and it was just right there. We booked through Pacific for Less and they were absolutely amazing. We told them what we wanted and they made our dreams come true. I almost forgot to mention the breakfast chef he was so amazing. He made us laugh every morning. He had the best personality. We cannot wait to see him each morning.

Dear FellowTraveler579133, A large thank you for your nice review after your stay at the Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort. We are delighted that y ou appreciate the kindness of our staff and we will share with them your compliments, especially with Heinz, the omelet chef !! We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you again in our corner of paradise. With best regards,

Nightmare Anniversary Trip

The first night we checked in the room was hot and fan not working. Maintenance man who only spoke French came but couldn't seem to fix it but my husband who does maintenance work was able to get it going. After dinner we came back to the room and realized fridge was not working and everything in it was warm. Maintenance man came again, looked at it and then had to bring a different fridge to replace it. Our 3rd night we came back to our room and the air conditioner was no longer working. It was 90 degrees in the room and extremely hot with high humidity. Maintenance man came again who only spoke French and fiddled with air conditioner remote but could not make it work. We called the front desk to talk to a manager and they had a woman call us back. She had us move everything at 10 pm to an another overwater bungalo that was smaller and not a superior overwater bungalo like we were originally in and we stayed at there for next 4 nights. The next morning we talked to the manager who offered the Sat night buffet for our trouble but we told him that was already included in our package. We are extremely upset that the vacation for our 10 year anniversary turned into a nightmare where we spent two nights dealing with broken things in our rooms when we should of been relaxing and having fun and spent 4 nights in a smaller bungalo and not the superior one we payed for. We also were extremely disappointed in the dinners where we found most things almost inedible. This ruined our expensive vacation and I would never recommend the Sofitel to anyone!

Great spot for a day pass

I visited to enquire about a day pass. I was welcomed to tour and to book at XPF 9000 pp. All employees were polite and accommodating. Resort is well situated on lagoon, near ferry terminal with views of Tahiti. OTW bungalows are comparable to Hilton and slightly better than Manava. WE chose Manava for day pass because of our past experience with them & proximity to our villa, but Sofitel would probably be a better day-pass choice because of lagoon.

Dear 400glennl, We thank you for choosing the Sofitel Moorea for the day pass. We are glad that you enjoy this moment with us. We hope to welcome you again for a longer stay. With warm regards,

Beautiful location

I rented two garden view bungalows for a 4 night stay, and my stay was pleasant. The ladies cleaning the room are the sweetest, the location is beautiful, and the beds are comfortable. My downsides are the rooms are poorly lit, and there was many ants residing in our bathroom. Also, not many food options nearby, and the hotel food is pricey.

They cancelled my reservation 1:00 pm the day before arrival to the overwater bungalows!!!!

I want to start by saying I will be giving this resort a 5 star review for the actual “resort” accommodations and service by all staff except the reservation department. But, I need to give a 1 star review to warn others of what happened to us. We visited Mo’orea for 1 week. After contemplating spending $1,500 for one night in an overwater bungalow for our anniversary, we decided to bite the bullet and have our once-in-a-lifetime experience. I booked the bungalow on a Sunday on their direct website for us to stay Wednesday. I called Monday to ensure we had the confirmation as I was super excited. They assured me we have the confirmation. At 1:00 on Tuesday (day before we check in) , I receive an email saying their system messed up and they are cancelling our room as they have no more overwater bungalows left. I was devastated, as this was the most exciting thing I was looking forward to the entire trip. (WHat if I hadn't randomly checked my email??? Would I just show up Wednesday without an overwater bungalow?) I called to see what they could do and they said they can put us in a regular bungalow in the jungle. I said that wasn’t going to do. I looked and they had an overwater bungalow open TODAY and asked if we could have that one. She said it wasn’t as nice as the one we rented but that would work. I also said we had paid for a hotel already tonight and could she reimburse us for that. She said yes. We ran back to the hotel, quickly packed and rushed to Sofitel. It was complete stress and really put a wrench in our vacation. We were not compensated anything else from the resort, no special treatment. Had I not come up with a solution to this error, they would have just cancelled our bungalow and went on with their day. I didn’t throw a fit because we were so enamored with the beauty of the resort. So all-in-all it was a great time. But, as a hotel owner myself, this was totally unacceptable and I would have gone OUT of my way to make the guest feel compensated for their screw up. I even asked Lisa, on the phone when we were figuring out all of this if there is some sort of complementary “something” they could do for us for this error. She said “we are already giving you money for your hotel room. Cmon, a complementary $23 drink at minimum would have said a lot. I also told them we booked this for our anniversary. We didn't even get a decorated room for our special occasion and honestly feel there was NO compensation given for the resorts mishap. I saw on other reviews they decorated the bed for special occasions. I read in other places they give discounts to locals, and this was a last-minute booking so they probably wouldn't have rented the overwater bungalow if I didn't suggest they give it to us today. The fact they gave us $200 discount to pay for the hotel we already booked somewhere else, in my eyes, wasn't a good enough "fix" for cancelling our CONFIRMED reservation. BEWARE they may cancel your room, even after receiving a confirmation AND calling to ensure you have a room. I will never stay here again, unfortunately, since the property itself was lovely. I'm too scared they will do this again, wasting our time, money and adding stress to our vacation.
