Amazing views but a hotel in need of updating

The Mercure is conveniently situated for the centre of Queenstown (5-10 min drive or 30 mins walk). Would describe the hotel as fine, but nothing better. Rooms are dated and a bit bashed and unloved. We had two rooms, the minibars were not stocked consistently and despite not having anything we were contacted after leaving to say we were being charged for items from the minibar, I explained we hadn't used anything and weren't charged but it was a bit annoying. The pool is not heated and cold to the point of being unusable. Breakfast was ok. The car parking is a real issue, there isn't enough by a long way. Overall, we stayed there it was ok, probably wouldn't return, but the views are incredible.
